An afternoon with a Tibetan Monk
Our yearly visit with Khen Rinpoche

Sunday, October 19, 2 to 4:00 pm, questions and discussion included, along with a meditation and blessing, in this rare opportunity to meet a Tibetan Monk in an "up close and personal" intimate gathering.

This event is free and open to the public, donations will be accepted to support the Siddhartha School Project in Ladakh, India. Walk ins are welcome, but pre registration is preferred.

Khen Rinpoche Lobzang Tsetan is a Tibetan Buddhist Monk of the Gelug-pa lineage (the same as the Dalai Lama), with the highest degree obtainable in Tibetan Buddhist metaphysics and philosophy. He was recently enthroned as the head abbot of the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in exile. This is the Panchen Lama's Monastery outside of Tibet. His new title of Khen Rinpoche recognizes him as a precious high lama.

In 1995, Khen Rinpoche Geshe Tsetan founded The Siddhartha School in his native home in Ladakh. The school seeks to preserve Tibetan Buddhist Culture and language while giving the children of this remote Himalayan area a well-rounded education, which will allow them to represent themselves and their culture in this newly evolving global community.

In January of 2005 H.H. Dalai Lama appointed Geshe Tsetan to be the head
abbot of the new Tashilungpo Monastery in India. (This is in the absence of
the Panchen Lama, who has been missing since the Chinese Government took him and his family into custody when he was 4 years old.) In July 2005 he was installed as Kachen, or head Abbot of the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in southern India. His new title is Khen Rinpoche Geshe Kachen Lobzang Tsetan, and he has assumed his new responsibilities overseeing the Tashi Lhunpo monastery in exile. He is now, in essence doing the Panchen Lama's job.

Buddhist practicees can enhance and deepen one's spiritual life, however they live it, without having to change or give up current belief systems or religion! .

and Sunday, Nov. 30, 11 to 1:00
Saturday and Sunday: $85.00
Saturday's session only: $70.00
Sunday's Second Series practice only: $30.00

Focus will be on alignment and energy flow in asana and the refinement of breath as it informs the vinyasa for a flowing practice. We will also discuss modifications for individual needs, tension patterns, and rehabilitation in a compassionate and gentle manner. Enjoy her light-hearted and fun style with plenty of adjustments and modifications.

After a short break, (bring water and snacks) the second half of the day will begin with time for Q&A on the practices, the philosophy, and the importance of developing and maintaining a personal practice, and then Christine will introduce basic principles of Ayurveda, the ancient science of self-healing, and how they can support your health and well-being.

Sunday's class will be a "full on" second series class, focusing on the back bending and deeper twists of "nadi shodhana" or the "nerve cleansing practice." Pre requisites: You are a strong practitioner of any tradition and you took the Saturday day long workshop with Christine, or, you know the primary series of astanga yoga already and are ready to explore the second series. Or, ask!
