Arts and Entertainment
Heartsong Yoga supports local arts and entertainment, and recently we have had the opportunity to be involved with 2 very exciting productions in the Springfield area. Check out these events, happening this week!
This Thursday night, November 15, Heartsong Yoga is proud to have been contacted by the double platinum country music group "Sugarland" who is headlining "CMT On Tour" (Country Music Television) at the Mass Mutual Center Arena.
Sugarland is extremely into yoga, and has even found a way to incorporate it on stage as something they call "SHOWGA" and it has become a big hit with fans. Sugarland's production staff has offered our studio a pair of tickets to the show to give away, as a way of giving back to their fans!
Come in any time to Heartsong Yoga this week and fill out an entry to win these two tickets! No purchase necessary, just stop by, or, fill out an entry before class. The winning tickets will be drawn on Wednesday night, and we will call the winners up right away! Keep Thursday night open, just in case!

What Sugarland has to say about Yoga:
| | | What do you remember about the first time you did a yoga class?
Kristian Bush: I remember being a bit intimidated that I would never be as flexible as the instructor. Also, I remember being shocked at how much of a workout it was.
Jennifer Nettles: I remember thinking, "Downward dog is so not a resting pose!" Now it actually can be.
What is the biggest challenge for somebody who is just starting out in yoga or for somebody who has never gone to a class?
Nettles: Getting over your ego enough to not push yourself too hard and to realize it is not a competitive sport in any way. There is an intelligent edge that if you push yourself beyond it, you can really hurt yourself.
Bush: I believe the biggest challenge is just getting the courage to try something different or new. Try to forget the stereotype in your mind. Yoga is for everyone -- children, athletes, moms, dads, accountants, truck drivers, even country stars.

Heartsong Yoga Loves the Drama Studio

Dark of the Moon
By Howard Richardson and William Berney Directed by Derron Wood, playing from November 9-18
Join us at the Drama Studio for our fall production of Dark of the Moon. The play tells a Romeo and Juliet story set in the Appalachian Mountains in the 1920s. The play centers around the character of John, a witch boy who seeks to be human after having his way with the lusty mortal Barbara Allen. The Conjure woman agrees to his request, as long as he will marry Barbara. If she is faithful to him for a year, he can remain a human. Barbara's mountain clan doesn't approve of John, or Barbara's newborn, a baby witch. The townspeople of Buck Creek take it upon themselves to right Barbara's sin of cavorting with a witch and lead the play to its tragic conclusion.
Dark of the Moon was written by Howard Richardson and William Berney and had a run on Broadway in the 1940s. The play was inspired by the traditional British folksong "Barbara Allen."
Performances: Fridays, November 9 & 16 @7:30PM Saturdays, November 10 & 17 @7:30PM Sunday, November 11 @ 6:30PM Sunday, November 18 @ 3PM & 6:30PM (talkback follows Nov. 18 matinee)
