Free Community Yoga and Meditation Classes
Join Director Sheila Magalhaes for a free introduction to Kripalu Yoga for "Every-Body" as we kick off our 14 year anniversary with an offering of free classes to enjoy a taste of yoga or meditation. The class will be held on Tuesday night, September 11, at 6 pm. It will be taught in a gentle style, designed to stretch, relax and restore balance to the body and the mind.
Everyone is invited to stay for the evening and take a free introductory class of Mindfulness Meditation, taught in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh by Heartsong's newest meditation teacher Michelle Bigda, at 7:30 pm, also on September 11.
Michelle will be dedicating the class to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy and to the survivors, families and friends of those who were affected by the events of that terrible day. Michelle's husband is a firefighter and she will bring his stories and perspective to the evening's presentation, and discuss ways that we can bring compassion and loving kindness into our lives in the face of our daily challenges, learning to cultivate peace and joy within and around us, for ourselves and for those we love and care about.
On Wednesday, September 12, come in and try out Astanga Yoga, sometimes called "Power Yoga", at 7:30 pm. This is a style of yoga that is more vigorous, athletic and lots of fun. The class will be taught by Michelle Ryan, from Heartsong's staff of trained and certified yoga teachers, and is a great choice for anyone looking for a "yoga workout."
Heartsong's free classes welcome everybody, junior high school age and above, walk ins are warmly welcomed. Try a class that you have not taken before, or send your family and friends in for an introduction to the practice that you already love! Forward this message to anyone you would like to share it with!
