Update and More |  | | I heard from some of you that you got a "Weekend Update" message from us but that the content was empty! So here it goes again, with a little more info added
A reminder that we are hosting Beryl Bender Birch this weekend for a teacher training, and that there will be two "open sessions" while she is here.
All classes will be held as regularly scheduled on Monday, Martin Luther King Day.
Weekend Drop in Yoga Schedule Alert The Saturday 7 am. Ashtanga Yoga will be "bumped" for Beryl to teach at 7 am., so no "regular" Ashtanga class that morning. (Her class will be "open" for all students to attend, see below for fees and details.)
All other classes will be held on Saturday and Sunday morning and evening (Pre Natal Yoga too) while the teacher training is in session, including the "regular" Sunday morning Ashtanga I class at 9 am.
Beryl is a renowned visionary and author of the books Power Yoga and Beyond Power Yoga, and the soon to be released "Boomer Yoga" and has been an avid student of yoga and the study of consciousness since l971. With degrees in philosophy and comparative religion, Beryl has traveled extensively in India, has been teaching yoga for 33 years, and training yoga teachers as "spiritual revolutionaries" since l980. In 2000 she was named by Yoga Journal as one of only seven American women in their "Innovators Shaping Yoga Today" issue.
Beryl is the director-founder of The Hard & The Soft Yoga Institute, and has been influencing Heartsong Yoga since 1996. (Look for Tony and Sheila in her new book "Boomer Yoga" in March!) To learn more about her Click Here

Open Yoga and Lecture sessions with Beryl Bender Birch |  | | for those not attending the teacher training with Beryl Bender Birch over MLK weekend. Only one Asana (Yoga Practice) class, and one lecture session will be "open" for the general public:
Asana Practice: Saturday, January 17, 7:00 - 8:30 am (no regular drop in class that morning) A Master Ashtanga Vinyasa style class, "open" to the public, based on the Ashtanga yoga system. Includes back and shoulder therapy. This is a class suitable for those who are who are familiar with the practice, or those who enjoy a strong and more vigorous yoga session. Drop ins welcome, $35.
Open Lecture: Sunday, January 18, 2:30 to 5 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend this lively discussion based on the timeless philosophy and scriptural studies of the Yoga Sutras, written 200 BC, including ethical and environmental considerations of a yogic lifestyle, and how our practices can enhance every aspect of our well-being. Drop ins welcome, $45.00. Attend both sessions for only $70.00
