Free Introductory Yoga Class Kripalu Style Yoga for Every-Body January 15, 6 pm.
Kripalu style yoga is at the heart of every class at Heartsong Yoga. This free intro session will give the new practitioner a chance to learn a little about the background and intentions of practice, understand some of the benefits of a regular yoga practice, and have an experience of a traditional gentle class, appropriate for "every-body."
This is an excellent chance for your friends and co workers to learn more about your practice at Heartsong Yoga, so please share this information with them. (We do not offer a course for Kripalu Yoga, as the drop in classes are geared for brand new students to join in at any time.)

Free Introductory Yoga Class Astanga, sometimes called Power Yoga January 16, 7:30 pm
Sometimes called Power Yoga, Astanga Yoga is a fun, hot, vigorous series of postures practiced in a heated room. The challenging and graceful flow combines breath and movement into a meditation in motion. This is your chance to check out a class and see if it is a style that you'd like to explore.
A six week course will begin on Januray 23 (No class the Wednesday during Feb. vacation, Feb. 20) For course details Click Here

Shoe Switch Bring Home the Right Shoes
On Saturday, Dec. 29, the last student to leave the Gentle Yoga class came out to the hallway...only to find out that her shoes were missing!
This has happened before, usually there is a pair of shoes, the wrong pair of shoes, in the hallway. This time...no shoes. We imagine that someone had put their shoes in a bag, and then walked off with the wrong pair of sneakers on their feet, carrying out the bag with their own pair inside. (That is the only thing we can think of.)
If you were at the Saturday morning Moderate or Gentle Yoga class before the New Year, check your shoes! You might have a pair of white, 8.5 NB sneakers in your closet that do not belong to you.
Our advice: When you take your shoes off in the hallway, put your car keys inside your shoes. (Unless that means that not only do you get a new pair of shoes, but a new car as well!)
Thanks! Oh, and check your pockets too, to make sure you grab the right overcoat!

Intro Classes This Week Join us for two opportunities to experience two traditional style of yoga that are at the heart of the offerings at Heartsong Yoga Center.
On Tuesday, January 15th at 6 pm, join Heartsong's director Sheila Magalhaes for a free introduction to the practice of Kripalu style yoga, known as the yoga for every-body. Kripalu Yoga offers an experience of movements that stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. Classes de-stress and quiet the mind, inviting deep peace, relaxation, and an open heart. Heartsong is an independent Affiliate Studio of the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, located in Lenox, MA.
If you have an established practice of yoga at Heartsong already, please tell your friends and family members about this free intro session. It is open to everyone junior high school age and above. If you want to support your friend or family member by attending the class, you are welcome to do that as well. (This session is an abbreviated class with a lot more intro material and discussion than a "regular" drop in class, which makes it a great way for a new practitioner to get comfortable at Heartsong.)
On Wednesday, January 16, at 7:30 pm, join Michelle Ryan for a free introduction to Astanga style yoga, often called Power Yoga because it is a more vigorous, athletic style of practice. Astanga Yoga offers a challenging and graceful flow of yoga postures designed to bring the body, mind and spirit into perfect alignment and function. The practice combines breath and movement in a specialized sequence to create an intense internal heat and purifying sweat. While not an "advanced" practice, it is a more athletic and physical yoga style, taught in the style of Beryl Bender Birch's "The Hard and the Soft Yoga Institute" and in the lineage of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. It is the choice for those who are looking for a hot practice strongly influenced by classical yoga philosophy, attention to breath, deep relaxation and meditation. The Astanga Yoga Course is the best way to learn the practice.
If you have been coming to classes, or even if you are brand new and you are intrigued by this style of yoga, or if you are ready to take your practice to another level, come on out to enjoy this session with Michelle. Of course, bring along a yoga buddy or anyone you would like to share this with. No worries...we will be offering this free class at a more relaxed and easy pace so that beginners can get a feel for Astanga Yoga in a comfortable way. The room is heated, be prepared to sweat! All welcome, junior high school age and above.
We are still accepting your generous food item donations to the Open Pantry (our New Year's day classes were snowed out...many came out to brave the elements, but because of the snow we had a much smaller turnout for those free classes!) Feel free to bring along a donation to these free classes if you would like.
