September Schedule
Join Heartsong's Jane Anable for an evening of Yoga Nidra, or Deep Yogic Rest, on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm.
Our next Yoga Nidra will be held this Thursday, September 7, at 7:30 pm.
Yoga Nidra is a dynamic meditative process that has been passed down to us through the centuries from the ancient yogic masters. It is designed to establish harmony and well being throughout the entire system, reducing the physical and mental tensions brought about by modern day living.
Yoga Nidra induces physical relaxation by moving awareness around the body, with attention drawn to the breath. The slower and deeper the respiration, the more relaxed the practitioner becomes. Emotional relaxation is achieved by developing a state of mind where various feelings and thoughts are brought to the surface, and then breathed away, and the mind begins to quiet down and feel more settled and at ease. Healing images and suggestions are brought in, along with positive affirmations and calming tranquil images. Although it seems as though this practice is "just a long winter's nap" the body is deeply relaxed and the mind and thoughts are quiet, but the practitioner is fully awake on an internal level.
Propped on cushions and bolsters, covered by blankets and resting on the carpeted floor, with an eye pillow over the eyes and the soothing restorative words from Jane, in the company of other seekers of relaxation, healing and ease, it is no wonder that this class is always a sell out at Heartsong Yoga each month.
Walk ins are welcome, $20.00 at the door, but if you pre register and pre pay, you can enjoy the class for $18.00. No experience is necessary, this is a great class to bring along a loved one to share your passion for yoga, however, Yoga Nidra is a practice and a process, so coming in once a month for a Yoga Nidra "Tune Up" is highly recommended.
(Jane also begins teaching Pre Natal Yoga once again this Saturday, September 8, at 11:30 am, drop ins are warmly welcomed)
Fall Schedule News Starting the week of September 10 Take a look at our newest fall schedule Click here
Class Times Changing Most of the new classes added to our schedule over the last few years have been 75 minutes long, and this year, starting the week of September 10: all classes on the schedule will be held for 75 minutes (an hour and fifteen minutes). This time change will allow us to have more flexibility within our schedule for all of our classes, especially in the evening, and will help our morning students to move more gracefully into their day. (The Astanga Level I/II classes will remain at 90 minutes.)
New Wednesday Line up Wed. afternoon, 3:30 pm All Levels Class is back, follows the school calendar. Look for this change on Wednesday night, A Gentle Yoga Switch: Gentle Yoga will be held at 6 pm instead of 7:30 pm on Wednesday nights. (Moderate Yoga will be held at the regular time slot of 5:45 pm.)
We want to wish Nora Pinney happiness and success in her new adventure going away to school to study Marine Biology in Maine! We will miss her in the weekly line up, but this gives us the chance to introduce Joanne Tardibuono on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm for Gentle Yoga, and to have our Heartsong Yoga teachers rotate teaching on Sunday mornings for All Levels Yoga! (We will not be hosting Nora's Wednesday 6 pm Hot Vinyasa Class.)
Once again we are excited to be moving into our new Fall Season, and hope that you are able to come out to enjoy our classes at Heartsong Yoga. We are proud to be celebrating our 14th year of serving this community, and will be offering our free introductory classes next week. If you have been thinking about trying out a new practice, or want to send a family member, co worker or buddy to yoga, this is a great chance to introduce them to our studio and offerings.
