A FREE and Fun Movement "Yoga Choir" Celebrating Hope for Peace
Sunday, March 2, 1 4 pm, Pre Registration requested to hold your space.
Given by Patty Zubini-Weiss with the Heart Song Community. This is a free offering to our students and their families and friends, as a chance to "give back" and to deepen our connections to one another.
As part of our experience, we will create a Yoga based "Movement Choir" that speaks the power of movement practice through a shared group expression. In our Yoga Choir, all will have a chance to express their views on what peace is, how we manifest peace as yogis and how we can set a direction for change in our communities and the world as peaceful warriors.
This workshop will integrate a lively, dynamic discussion, moving asana practice in small and large groups, group meditation and guided relaxation! Celebrate new ideas of taking your experience off the mat and back into your communities as yogi agents for social change and action. It is open to all junior high school age and above,no previous movement or yoga experience is necessary! Just a desire to laugh, play, share, learn and challenge your thinking!
Patty's bio Patty Zubini-Weiss is a Certified Laban-Bartenieff Movement Analyst, Registered Spanda Yoga Teacher and Nurse, Somatic Movement Therapist, Dancer and Personal Trainer. She graduated with her certification in Movement Studies and Somatic Movement Therapy from the Integrated Movement Studies Program at the University of Utah. Through her experience as a dancer, Patty fell in love with yoga practice and after exploring her personal practice, she was inspired to complete her 200 hour teaching certification in Raja Yoga from Spanda Yoga. In addition to teaching Yoga and her Somatic Movement Therapy practice, she is an adjunct faculty in dance at Springfield College and at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, Ct. She continues to study and develop her personal practice and teaching through the wonderful workshops offered at Kripalu and through the gifted HeartSong faculty and community. Patty is interested in supporting her students in discovering ways of listening to their body sensations, while honoring and trusting their intuitive bodily wisdom as a way of self knowing and self expression. Patty is also interested in how yoga practice supports building community and how yogis can join together to affect change in the world!
