Kripalu Yoga Practice
Kripalu Yoga is a beautiful practice that is accessible to everyone and every-body. These classes are taught by teachers who have been trained and certified in this style of yoga, known as the "yoga of compassion". All of our teachers are influenced and inspired by wise and wonderful teachers and other styles of yoga as well, and maintain their continuing education in yoga asana (the physical practice) philosophy, and the history of yoga, known as the "deeper practices" of yoga. (These classes are not appropriate for children, but middle and high school young adults are welcome at a special price.)
Beginners always welcome, a great start for new students, as well as long time practitioners looking for stress reduction, relaxation and ease. These classes offer accessible postures guided as a meditation in motion with plenty of details and lots of support. They emphasizes adaptability and acceptance, especially welcoming for those who feel like they might not be “able” to “do” yoga or those who have injuries or other physical limitations. (We offer Chair Yoga for those who want to practice yoga but are nervous about sitting on the floor.)
Kripalu All Levels
An instructive sequence of creative warmups, followed by a variety of postures, breathing and relaxation techniques. Appropriate for all students, and beginners are always welcome, you will be led and guided throughout!
A strengthening practice which includes longer holding times, more inter-connective flow between postures and an emphasis on internal awareness. New students who feel fit and strong are welcome to try moderate yoga any time, but remember that there may be less detailed instruction in these classes.
Gentle/Beginner, All Levels or Moderate Classes that do not specify "Kripalu" are classes taught by experienced certified teachers who received their training somewhere other than the Kripalu Center. These teachers are steeped in the essence of the the teachings of Kripalu Yoga, and the Heart of Heartsong, and their style is very much the same.
We like to call these classes "Kripalu Inspired."
