This playful and intensive exploration is appropriate for anyone curious about the Ashtanga Yoga style of yoga. New students will be led and guided throughout the practice, more seasoned students will have the chance to explore the transitions and some of the more "complicated postures" of the Primary Series.
This is a chance to look at the details, to ask questions, and to learn how to modify for your individual needs. We will also begin an exploration of the "deeper practices of yoga" know as the 8 Limb Path, the philosophy from the Yoga Sutras passed down to us from 200 BC, and learn how to apply it to your practice on your mat and your life out in the world.
Friday night: Breaking down the sun salutes and the standing poses.
Intro to Patangali's 8 Limbs of Yoga and an experience of a deep and luxurious yoga nidra relaxation.
Saturday: Launching into sun salutes and the standing poses to heat the body, and then mindfully break down the seated postures with time to explore transitions and modifications for all. Together we will look at ways to develop headstand, if appropriate for your practice! We will take a break, "clean up" and settle into a sutra study of the yamas and niyamas, to continue our exploration of yoga philosophy and the 8 Limb Path. We will end with a guided meditation practice to settle and cultivate balance to the body/mind.
