This will be Mark’s 16 year of pedaling the two day 180 mile ride (August 6 & 7 ) to support Dana Farber Cancer Institute through the Pan Mass Challenge! Out of last year’s 6,000 riders, 200 of them are “Living Proof” riders who are survivors. Learn how Yoga can increase your core strength, range of motion, balance, mental focus, reduce risk of injury and improve overall body awareness. This alignment based class will cover fundamental alignment principles of Sun Salutation, Standing postures and will focus on stretching the large muscles groups of the hips and legs to support a healthy spine. We will conclude with Restorative Yoga and self-massage techniques to help promote deep relaxation of both body and mind. All levels welcome! Founded in 1980, the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is an annual bike-a-thon that today raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country. Mark will donate 100% of every raised dollar to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through it's Jimmy Fund. To learn more about the PMC and Mark visit this site. A message from Mark: Along much of the ride for both days, there are spectators, well wishers and survivors cheering on the riders. As a rider, the energy and love washes over you and feeds your heart and legs in a way that brings goosebumps and sometimes tears. This year, once again, my ride will incorporate the tradition of Tibetan prayer flags, inscribed with names and messages to and from those touched by cancer. The ancient symbols displayed on these flags, known as "wind horse" flags, produce a spiritual vibration that is activated and carried by the wind across the countryside to quietly harmonize the environment, impartially increasing happiness and good fortune among all living beings. Stacey has been practicing Yoga since 1990 and has been teaching since 1997. She holds a 500 hour certification with the Hard & Soft Yoga Institute where she is on faculty and a 300 hour certification from the Piedmont Yoga Studio under the mentorship of Rodney Yee.
