Earth Day Movie & Cleanup "A Plastic Ocean" FREE

Date: April 22nd, 2018.

Time: 1:00 PM

Join Heartsong Yoga for a FREE event on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, for the afternoon, beginning at 1 pm.  We will view the documentary "A Plastic Ocean" and then go outside for an adventure in "Plogging" for a chance to do some "community cleanup" around the yoga center, and along the main roads leading out of the studio, to explore the impact of plastic trash that is all around us.  The film will run till 2:30, and for the afternoon clean up you can spend as much time as you want to or can!

A Plastic Ocean has been called an epic global adventure following a filmmaker and a world record free-diver as they travel the earth discovering the shocking impact plastic is having on our oceans and the marine animals that live there.  This film brings to the forefront the devastating consequences of our global disposable lifestyle. We thought we could use plastic and simply throw it away. But we cannot because doing so has direct negative impacts on humans, animals (marine & land-based), as well as the environment.

This documentary also introduces the possible technology and policy solutions that can reduce the impacts of the growing problem of plastic pollution.

What is Plogging?
A walk, a stroll, a run...while picking up trash!  It's been called a new fitness craze that is supposed to improve the health of both humans and Mother Earth. The term is a portmanteau of jogging and “plocka upp,” Swedish for “pick up,” sometimes called running with a purpose, it's the chance to clean up litter in your neighborhood.  We will start around the perimeter of Heartsong Yoga's building and parking lot, and spill out into the streets.  There is a potential that others will join us in other parts of our community, or even drive out to other areas, it will depend on how many attend the event and who is interested in going further out.

Please share this event with all of our Mother Earth Lovers!
