Intro to Second Series, with Amy Joseph
Wednesday nights, 7:15 to 8:45
Wednesdays: Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 14, Dec. 19
$20.00 each, pre pay or walk ins welcome.
(take one, or all, each will be an individual exploration)

These foundational classes are offered to those students who already have an Ashtanga practice.
Amy will introduce the accessible practices of Ashtanga Yoga's "second series" pracctice.
Sometimes called Intermediate Series, these poses are not always more challenging, but they move the body in different ways after the sun salutations and the standing poses that students are already familiar with.  She will incorporate backbends, twists, shoulder and back therapy, all necessary for longevity, health, and balanced functional mobility for students of all ages.  Plenty of variations and modifications for all levels. You do not have to be "good" at Ashtanga Yoga, just comfortable with the sequence of sun salutes, the breathing and the flow, for anyone curious and interested to keep learning.

Bonus:  You will be able to hear and enjoy the sounds of the Crystal Bowl Sound Healing Meditation from across the hall during Shavasana!

While steeped in the traditional aspects of the Ashtanga system, we often say that we teach Ashtanga Vinyasa "Heartsong Yoga Style", inspired by our teacher Beryl Bender Birch of The Hard & The Soft Yoga Institute, and infused with teachings of other styles of yoga, including the heart of Kripalu Yoga.  Traditional Ashtanga Yoga has poses that unfold in specific sequences, practiced in a specific order. At Heartsong, you will find that traditional style, along with the opportunity to explore these practices in an eclectic, playful, and creative way, designed to be supportive to all students, of all levels, who come to classes to study at Heartsong.
