The Winter Solstice is one of four days (two equinoxes and two solstices) throughout the year that mark the beginning of a new season. This workshop will welcome in the season of Winter.  With its short day and long night, the winter solstice is energetically the most “yin” day of the year in the northern hemisphere. A perfect time to look inward, connect with the stillness of the season, and replenish our energies as the calendar begins its gradual move back towards the more “yang” season of Spring. This is a day where there is the shortest amount of sunshine, and it marks the first day of Winter in this part of the world.

Celebrate the season with Steve and the Heartsong community.

Yin Yoga is an approach to practice that targets the dense connective tissue in our body, and helps to restore and maintain the range of motion in our joints. Floor postures are passively held for longer periods of time with a moderate level of sensation. Yin is a fantastic complement to more dynamic activities such as Ashtanga or other power/Vinyasa yoga practices, which generally target our muscles with dynamic movement.  The stillness of Yin practice helps to balance our energy and can invite meditative reflection.

All levels welcome to attend.
We have props to share, but if you prefer you are welcome to bring your own pillow and blanket to this class.
