We begin with a reading from Thich Nhat Hanh. We will explore ways to meditate, seated, standing and mindful walking practices. Another Thich Nhat Hanh reading will lead to a brief discussion. We'll close with an intention for our practice for the week.
Why is it called a Sangha? Traditionally Sangha means a Buddhist community of monks, nuns, novices, and laity. We are using the term loosely, meaning a group or community of like-minded folks coming together and supporting each other's meditation practice. We are building our mindfulness community with guidance from the Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation.
This community offering is open to all, donations will be accepted to support the space, Thank you.
Who is Thich Nhat Hanh? Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh is a global spiritual leader, poet, and peace activist, renowned for his powerful teachings and bestselling writings on mindfulness and peace. A gentle, humble monk, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called him “an Apostle of peace and nonviolence” when nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize. Exiled from his native Vietnam for almost four decades, Thich Nhat Hanh has been a pioneer bringing Buddhism and mindfulness to the West, and establishing an engaged Buddhist community for the 21st Century. More about Thich Nhat Hanh, here.
